Skytext web design
There are some aspects to consider when looking for a web designer in Ireland. One of them is ownership of your source files. When a website is created, your web designer, if they are from Ireland and most other parts of the western world, they will create the site with what is called “source files”. These generally consist of a Photos file, any original Flash files that were used (not SWF versions), any code that was used that is not open source, you also need to know if IonCube was used on any open source PHP files, which locks them up and makes them unworkable to other web designers in Ireland.
I understand this may be a bit technical but at least you know the questions to ask to ensure you have access to your source files and you can be in control of your own website. You also should have access to FTP, domain and content management system passwords.
It is very easy to get an inexpensive website built outside Ireland, but then you lose contact with the people who built it and you can’t get it edited by your web designer in Ireland. This means you are stuck, you will lose any page rank that Google has given the site, you may lose your domain name and email also that your clients have got used to. After that you will also have to pay to get the site rebuilt.
None of this might happen, but I think it is useful to know both sides. When you look at low price and can’t see why the price is so cheap, it is easy to make the mistake of working with a web designer who is not looking after your best interests in the long run.
Remember the famous old adage …“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” – Benjamin Franklin
